Modernizing an Outdated Roof

The Case Western Reserve University’s School of Dental Medicine is home to cutting-edge dental research and innovation. However, the building itself was not on the cutting-edge: It needed a total roof replacement to bring it up-to-date.

The Job

Total Roof Replacement

This roof replacement project required street and sidewalk closures. The team was able to load the materials for the project using a 250-ton crane and installed a scaffold tower approximately 50-feet in height. Working together with Technical Assurance, we installed a well-designed and sustainable roofing system.

The Challenge

Access to the Job

Access to the building was limited due to an underground parking garage. Dumpsters, cranes, and trucks were not permitted to be staged on the parking deck.

The Process

Prioritizing Safety

Scaffold canopies were installed above all walkways and entrances around the building. Fencing was installed along the entire site. These safety measures ensured debris and material from the project could not fall and harm students, staff, or public passersby.

The roof system was installed under favorable conditions by great installers and should remain in place well beyond the manufacturer’s 20-year warranty term.

The Results

Complete Satisfaction

The owner was highly satisfied with the workmanship, cleanliness of the jobsite, and safeguards in place to protect the public throughout the project.
