Modified Bitumen Roofing Systems
A Modified Bitumen roof system is a two-ply system made of asphalt that has been modified with either rubber or plastic. They can be heat welded, self-adhered, or installed with cold process adhesives. This system is applied in overlapping rolls and these used to be the most common flat roofing systems in the industry before the rise of the single ply systems. Modified bitumen has a proven track record of longevity, and the fact that the seams are melted together helps to stop leaks. A seamless bitumen roof is advantageous because of its durability and leak resistance.
