Cru Uncorked Restaurant

The View: Cru Uncorked Restaurant

A New Look With Faux Slate

Cru Uncorked Restaurant is a fine dining establishment in Moreland Hills, Ohio. In 2017, Warren Roofing™ was part of the initial restaurant construction project, as the commercial roofing contractor. When the restaurant planned an expansion in late 2021, they needed skilled roofers with the ability to install an intricate faux slate roof and copper cupola—and Warren Roofing™ was their first call.

The Job

Commercial Roof Installation

The expansion for Cru Uncorked Restaurant involved the installation of a high-end faux slate roofing system. For this job, Warren Roofing™ selected a product called DaVinci Slate, a lightweight and resilient product that is designed to resist impact, cracking, and chipping. While natural slate is heavy and must be reinforced by the roofing system’s infrastructure, faux slate offers the same visual appeal without the weight, making it an ideal choice for the restaurant.

The Challenge

A Copper Cupola

In addition to the intricacy of the faux slate roofing system installation, the roof also featured a copper cupola, a four-sided spire. The creation and installation of the cupola on the restaurant’s roof would prove to be a challenging process—and the cupola would have quite the journey before it was placed high atop the roof.

The Process

Faux Slate Roof and Copper Cupola Installation

While there are significant advantages to using a faux slate roofing product, the installation of faux slate is a slow, intricate process—in fact, there are a limited number of skilled roofing technicians in Northeast Ohio with the expertise and ability to install the product. Fortunately, Warren Roofing™ had several team members who were qualified to tackle the tedious and complex task, and who installed the faux slate roof with extreme precision, care, and attention to every detail.

The copper cupola would be the finishing touch on the beautiful new faux slate roof. The wood elements of the cupola were handcrafted by a carpenter in a woodshop, then shipped to Warren Roofing™ to complete the copper work. The technicians at Warren Roofing™ soldered all of the joints and performed the intricate copper installation. Once the cupola was complete, it was time to relocate it to the restaurant site. Warren Roofing™ shipped the cupola to the job site and performed all of the copper and roofing work around it to properly complete the installation.

The Results

A Happy Repeat Client

Cru Uncorked Restaurant called on Warren Roofing™ in 2017 during the original phase of the restaurant’s construction and called them again in 2021 for the restaurant’s next phase of expansion. Warren Roofing™ repeatedly delivers the highest quality of results—from the finished faux slate roof installation to the intricate detail work on the copper cupola. If the restaurant decides to expand or renovate again, Warren Roofing™ will be ready.
