Mayfield Heights Aquatic Center

The View: Mayfield Heights Aquatic Center

A Durable Roofing System for a Recreational Hub

The new Mayfield Heights Aquatic Center is a key part of the community’s recreational infrastructure. With multiple pool areas and high visitor traffic, the facility needed a roofing system that could withstand both the elements and heavy daily use. The City of Mayfield Heights, with AM Higley as the general contractor, entrusted Warren Roofing® with the complex roofing system installation. Our task was to ensure the new aquatic center would remain protected, functional, and weather-resistant for years to come.

The Job

A Complex Roofing System for a Multi-Zoned Facility

The project presented a unique challenge due to the building’s design, which incorporated nine distinct roof areas. These areas, each with different features and requirements, required a multifaceted roofing approach. Warren Roofing® was selected because of our ability to handle large-scale, multi-phase installations, and our expertise in working with diverse roofing materials. Our past experience coordinating with multiple trades and managing complex projects made us the right choice for this high-profile project.

The Challenge

Navigating Complex Coordination and Design Adjustments

As a new construction project, the primary challenge was ensuring the roofing system integrated seamlessly with the building’s complex architectural design. The nine different roof areas required careful planning and precise installation to avoid delays and ensure performance. Coordination with multiple trades was essential to avoid conflicts and maintain progress on schedule. Additionally, design adjustments were made to meet both aesthetic and functional goals, ensuring the roofing system performed to high standards while complementing the building’s overall look.

The Solution

A Complete Roofing System for Long-Term Durability

Warren Roofing® provided a comprehensive roofing solution, including a torch-applied modified bitumen temporary roof during construction, an insulation package designed to meet energy efficiency requirements, and, finally, a TPO (thermoplastic olefin) roofing membrane, known for its durability, flexibility, and resistance to extreme weather conditions. In addition to the roofing system, Warren Roofing® worked closely with the project stakeholders to refine key design details, ensuring both performance and aesthetic expectations were met. The final result was a fully integrated, energy-efficient roofing solution that would protect the aquatic center for years to come.

Materials Used:

  • Torch-Applied Modified Bitumen Temporary Roof – For construction-phase protection
  • Insulation Package – Customized for energy efficiency and moisture resistance

The Process

A Step-by-Step Approach to Successful Installation

This project required careful planning and execution due to the complexity of the design and the multiple roof areas. The process began with the installation of a torch-applied modified bitumen temporary roof to safeguard the structure during the construction phase. Next, a customized insulation package was applied, ensuring energy efficiency while providing a stable foundation for the final roofing system. The TPO membrane was then installed using a fully adhered, heat-welded process, creating a seamless, waterproof finish. In collaboration with the project designers, our team developed and implemented roofing details that met both aesthetic and functional requirements. After installation, thorough inspections were conducted to ensure that all roofing components adhered to industry standards and client specifications.

Throughout the process, Warren Roofing® maintained close coordination with AM Higley and other on-site contractors to ensure a smooth workflow and timely project completion. This included developing tailored solutions to meet the specific design needs of the aquatic center’s roofing system.

The Results

A Robust Roofing System

Warren Roofing® successfully delivered a high-performance roofing system that met the design, performance, and durability needs of the new Mayfield Heights Aquatic Center. By providing a comprehensive, multi-layered roofing solution, we ensured the facility would remain weather-resistant and energy-efficient for many years to come. The TPO roofing system ensures easy maintenance and protection from the elements, while the custom insulation package helps to maintain energy efficiency year-round.

Our commitment to quality, design refinement, and safety helped us deliver a roofing system that exceeded the client’s expectations. The aquatic center now has a durable and effective roof that protects both the structure and the community it serves.
